The Fox is a natural scavengers and likes to make its homes near to possible food sources. As humans have developed more land, the foxes have naturally found their way to be closer to humans. It is not unusual to see urban foxes wondering the neighbourhoods of cities like Plymouth and Exeter at night looking for food. Unfortunately sometimes this food takes the form of our furry friends like the family pet rabbit or chickens.
If you have small animals in cages or pens outside it is important that you lock them away at night, secure their living areas and make sure you lock away their food. Ensure that bins are secure and that any food waste is not accessible. You don’t want to wake up in the morning to find the remains of your family pets or livestock.
If you think you might have a fox but are unsure, then there are some obvious signs to look out for. Foxes like to forage for insects so any holes dug in your garden or flower beds are a clear indication. Also look out for somewhere a fox may build a den. Look under sheds and other areas where foxes may have dug to build a den. Once you suspect you have a fox you need to get rid of them.
Falcon Environmental Services will come in and assess the situation, confirm if you have foxes living on your premises and then set up humane traps to capture the foxes. They will then take them away and ensure that any access points are secured to prevent them coming back into your Devon or Cornwall property.
