Some of you will be singing that in your head now. For those that it doesn’t strike a chord with we can only apologise. Now whilst the thought of a rat in the kitchen may have you standing on the tables or chairs in fear, the reality is quite something else. No-one wants to find a rat in their Plymouth kitchen, or any other part of their house come to that. The trouble is Plymouth rats are more common than we would like in towns and cities like Plymouth and they say you are never more than a few metres from a rat. Let’s hope that it’s somewhere at the bottom of your garden and not the house though!
We get many calls from people worrying that they may have rats or mice. Sometimes it’s because they have heard scuffling or scurrying behind the walls or in the roof space above. Other times it might be because they have found unexplained droppings that look suspiciously like they have come from a rodent. Without an actual sighting it is hard to be sure. In the first instance you need to establish if you do have a rat problem. There are some obvious signs to look out for. You might hear them before you see them or see tracks through the dust around the edge of a room. Droppings are a common indication as well.
If you are not phased by the thought of a Plymouth rat or mouse living under your floorboards or in your roof space then you need to be. Whilst they may not scare you they are unhygienic pests that carry diseases. They often scurry around the house at night perhaps in areas where food are prepared. Having come from outside you don’t know what they might be carrying. If you have children in the house you need to be extra cautious. You should call in a pest control expert immediately to locate the rats and remove them from your Plymouth property with preventative steps taken to discourage their return.
